Cankle Awareness Month?

As if women aren’t hyper-conscious enough about their bodies, the WSJ published a report last week discussing the condition commonly referred to as “cankles”; where one’s calves appear to draw a straight line down to their ankles.

Intrigued by the idea, the Today Show dedicated a whole segment this morning to the story.

To combat the condition, Gold’s Gym has dubbed this month as “Cankle Awareness Month” and is offering special classes to whittle down your ankles.

If that isn’t enough, there are plastic surgeons out there that will do liposuction on your ankles to give them a more tapered effect.

Is there nothing better to worry about than whether we need lipo on our ankles?!

What do you think ladies?  Is this over the top or a serious malady that requires month-long awareness?  Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. Oh for crying out loud! Yes, we have more important things to worry about for sure! But I do have a simple solution . . . wear pants! 🙂

  2. lol Nothing Fancy! When I mentioned Cankles Awareness Month to a friend, she said we needed to have Man-boob Awareness Month instead! ha-ha

really?! Just another strategy to get women to shell out money for ‘imperfections’… nice going WSJ and today.

  4. I agree that it’s just another ploy to get women to spend money. That’s not even a real thing. I don’t have much definition between my calves and ankles either and I weigh 108 lbs, so I don’t think getting lipo on your ankles would do much anyway, except continue to make you paranoid
