Trend Watch: Wide Cuff Out–Rolled, Frayed Jeans Back In

Do you remember the days when you wore  your pants pegged and rolled up, back in the mid-eighties?  Well, like acid washed jeans, a style similar to the pegged leg look of the 80’s seems to be making a resurgence.

Now, while I usually am chastising us “older folk” from trying to keep up with our younger sisters’ trends—I say this is one trend you can carry off, if you know how to do it.

One good example, is this picture I saw in the May issue of calvin jeansMore magazine.  Forty year old, actress Jill Hennessy, is pictured in a pair of Calvin Klein frayed jeans, with a skinny roll and a wicked pair of studded Manolo Blahnik, T-strap stilletos.

If you are attracted to this look, I recommend pairing your jeans with a “tough”  looking sandal.

The jeans in this example are shown dressed up with ultra modern and sexy heels, a structured jacket along with a bead and crystal necklace.

If you want to dress it down slightly, pair the jeans with a pair of gladiator sandals, t-shirt and scarf.

What do you think?  Would you wear this look?

  1. Not a fan.
Granted, I’m not really a product of the 80’s (was too young to really ‘experience’ it) but I don’t really get all the hype about it. I sort of feel like the 80’s have just been continually regurgitated for the past 8 or so years…can it end soon? Can we please move on and become fascinated with another decade?

  2. Hi Danie, Unfortunately it seems that fashion recycles each previous decade. 80’s now–the 90’s are next. Get ready for more flannels, sunflower prints and combat boots. 🙂 Thanks for the comment!

  3. Haha I’m already starting to make slipdresses…my favorite trend of the 90’s.
I grew up in the 90’s so I sort of remember it fondly.

I love how ‘grunge’ plaid has reared its head in all sorts of interesting ways already.
