India Fashion Week 2009

It may be my imagination, but anticipation seems to be building for this weeks Willis Lifestyle India Fashion Week.  Now in it’s twelfth year, WLIFW is a platform for seasoned and new designers to network and promote fashion there in India and abroad.

Last month, India hosted its first Couture Fashion Week with eleven designers showing their custom designs.  Not satisfied with ordinary models, several designers enlisted help from Bollywood Stars, Priyanka Chopra, Neha Dhupia, Riya and Raima Sen, along with reigning Miss India World 2008 Parvathy Omanakuttan, Miss India Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas and Miss India Earth 2006 Amruta Patki.

It was also reported that designer Rohit Bal ended his show in true Bollywood style with Indian heart throb, Olympic bronze medal winner Vijender Singh as seen below.

Here are a few shots from the couture shows.

Designer:  Manish Malhotra

Designer:  Rohit Bal
