Uncommon Goods

Today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite on-line gift stores.  Uncommon Goods carries a plethora of , well, Uncommon Goods. You can find items for your home, an Eco friendly purse or saucy personal items.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I’m also including the little blurb from the site that is associated with each item as they each seem to have their own story.

 RECLAIMED BILLBOARD LAPTOP PROTECTOR
$65.00
Protect your laptop and the earth in one step with this original computer case made from reclaimed billboards from America’s highways. Using the PVC vinyl in a new, useful way keeps it out of landfills, and the durable, waterproof material makes for a unique collage of colors and graphics. Each bag has a Velcro closure, an outside pocket and an adjustable shoulder strap.Due to the recycled nature, each will vary.

UM CARRY BAG
$95.00
Ladylike, but completely modern this gray wool handbag with orange zipper is for gals who care about style, design and the environment. Designer Josh Jakus uses excess industrial wool from factories to create these slightly-roomier-than-a-clutch handbags. When not in use this minimalist purse can be unzipped so it lays completely flat for optimal storage.
RECYCLED CANDY WRAPPER CLUTCH PURSE
$28.00
This eye-catching clutch is made from crisscrossed shiny and graphically great candy wrappers. The rainbow checkerboard effect adds instant punch to any getup and shows that you love the Earth just as much as fashion.
RECYCLED SAIL TOTES
$98.00
A day on deck, on the shore or around town – these shoulder totes made from real boat sails will take aboard all you want on deck. The interior authenticity tag unfurls the life of the sail – the type of craft it guided, the type of sail it was and the sea it sailed upon.
The next two items in this series kind of caught me by surprise, but intrigued me at the same time. What a fun way to to stash away your “Aunt Flow” (or in Japan, they call it “Flag Day” after the red dot on their flag) supplies without your male counterparts being any wiser.

TAMPON CASES
$30.00
Then it’s sister product, the Sassy Card Case to hold your business cards whether it be for the office or your personal “Playdate” cards to give to other moms.

SASSY CARD CASES
$28.00

Finally, there are the Snow Rabbit and Frog flipflop socks.  Ever since my friend AirE came for a visit from Japan over Christmas, I have been enamored with this traditional “Tabi” socks.  This pair is the two-toe version.  Maybe I’m the only one, but I think they are so fun and sure to set you apart from the crowd. 🙂
