I think Ireland must have such company protection in any case, coupled with some retailers taking huge liberties with the exchange rate between UK Pound and Euro. There are often very sizeable differences between a Pound price quoted on a garment and the corresponding Euro amount we are expected to pay. There are very few retailers where the sales really mean, rock bottom prices. That usually only occurs when they are trying to get rid of stock or in the current climate, they are trying to get depressed and worried consumers to part with their cash for an item when they are more worried about the downturn and savings. Designer clothing is never marked down more than 20 or 30 percent, sometimes 50 percent in certain stores. We have several shops, I think like Macy’s where a variety of clothing brands are available..in those cases, often the holding company can dictate sales discounts or come to some sort of compromise which can mean more discounts for us…but only at certain times, with certain stock and certain brands.

Oh god, my boyfriend and I have been completely sucked into that show and have plowed through the first season in about 4 days. For me, the best part is the clothes (duh) and I’ve made Joan my personal style icon. It’s inspired me to get out my sewing machine again and try to use some old 60’s patterns I got off ebay. I’ll post the results.

I have also noticed this. I, too used to be able to get a sweet deal on Tommy Hilfiger and Polo shirts for my son. Now, I know why I don’t have as many Nine West shoes in my closet…I used to load up on them when I could get the great deal (I love coupons!), now not so much. Sad day.

Wow! I was right on the cutting edge when reading your post! How fun!

Thanks for your willingness to do the Jeans Fashion Lesson. I’ll be looking forward to it and as always…there is certainly no rush!

I just wish we lived close…cuz then I’d just take you to the stores with me so you could TELL me what to buy!!!

Glad you’re moving off the liquid diet. Hope you haven’t lost too much weight and energy.

Love the post.
I am a brunette and have some very very soft blond highlights from the sun and old highlights..they just kiss the tips of my hair…they look good…honest. So, the grow out your hair–check
I am not so sure about the coloured tights with coloured shoes, bright blue eyeshadow and bright dresses really works. I would rather match my tights to the dress and then add different shoes..it should elongate a petite no?? I love wearing tights with some dark strappy wedges I have in the winter, no snow to worry about! But strappy sandals are a bit much……tootsies get cold!
Pleated trousers?? Wasnt that one of those 80s monsters that only the super thin, leggy could do??

Hey Nothing Fancy, I was shocked to see a comment in my box so quickly! I did a poor job of proof reading this post before I published it, so I was still correcting it when I saw your comment. You may want to check it out again, it might sound a bit better.

Jeans you say? I will write that on my list of Fashion Lessons. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don’t be upset with me if it takes me a little while. Fashion Lessons take a really long time to write (even though they may not be lengthy). So please bear with me for awhile.

Thanks also for the well wishes. I’m slowly coming off the liquid diet. I was able to eat my soup without putting it in the blender yesterday.

The things I get excited about these days…. Ha-ha

Thanks Fashion Sensei, I loved your article. I recently read a few articles about phthalates, parabens and DEA, these articles scared me so much that I immediately started my quest for natural personal care products. I found that places like Whole Foods have natural products, but when you read the ingredients, they are not so natural. So I decided to look online and found some great websites. thesimplebody.com has a great selection of makeup and skin care. They list all ingredients and only carry products that are truly safe.
